Renotec recently carried out the renovation works on the cellars of the Pierre Vandamme lock bridge, the largest lock in the Zeebrugge port area.
After 30 years, the lock would be fully serviced. Renotec has cleaned and inspected the walls, the injection work, the concrete repairs and a protective layer has been applied to the concrete walls of the lock. These concrete repairs are partly done manually, but largely by spraying. With 108,000 kg of repair mortar, it carried out concrete repairs on an area of 600 m². Due to the presence of chlorides and to respond to the ring anode effect, Galvashield XPT-type sacrificial galvanic anodes were mounted on the reinforcement. A number of sacrificial anodes are being monitored to monitor their service life in the coming years. This guarantees a sustainable recovery of the walls of the lock.
